I'm not getting alerts

If an issue is in your inbox but no alert reached you, work through these causes, most likely first.

1. The issue is ambient

Ambient issues never send an alert to any channel or the bell. They wait in the inbox and the digest. Check its tier in the issues inbox.

2. The channel isn't verified or is switched off

Only active, verified channels receive alerts. Open Settings, then click Manage channels under Alert channels. A channel marked Not verified — send a test needs a successful Send test first. A channel showing Activate is switched off — click it to turn it back on. See Set up alerts.

3. Your plan doesn't include channels

Channels receive alerts only on Pro and Agency. On Free, issues still appear in the inbox and the bell, but nothing goes to a channel, and nothing is queued to send after an upgrade. Free also never raises stopped-delivery or overspend issues.

4. Quiet hours are holding it

Quiet hours hold operational alerts until they end, then send them. Critical alerts always go out. They use the client's time zone. See Alert rules and quiet hours.

5. The client's rule sends that tier elsewhere

A client rule (or, on Agency, a campaign group override) decides which channels get critical and which get operational alerts. A tier with no channels ticked is muted for that client. Check the client's Alert settings. See Alert rules and quiet hours.

6. It was snoozed or acknowledged

A snoozed issue is silenced until the snooze ends or its tier rises. Acknowledging a critical stops its repeats. Operational alerts never repeat: you get one when the issue opens and one each time it comes back.

7. Delivery is failing

On the Alert channels page, look for failed in 24h and the last error. Advec tries a failed send up to 3 times within an hour, then gives up. Common causes: Slack rejected the webhook URL (for example, the webhook was deleted in Slack), or your own endpoint returned a non-2xx response or timed out. The last error on the channel says which. URLs can't be edited: add a new channel, test it, and remove the old one. See Alert channels.

8. The email is in spam

Check your spam or junk folder, and mark Advec's alert as not spam.

Advec doesn't flood you with old alerts. If a first alert, or an alert that an issue has come back, couldn't go out within an hour of the problem being seen — for example after an outage — it is dropped rather than sent late. The issue is still in your inbox.
