Alert rules and quiet hours
Without a rule, every active, verified channel gets every critical and operational alert. A rule chooses which channels hear about one client, and can hold its operational alerts overnight.
Set a client's rule
Open the client and scroll to Alert settings at the bottom of the page. Under Client default, make sure Use this custom routing is ticked, then choose:
- Critical and Operational: tick the channels that should get each tier. A tier with no channels ticked is muted for this client.
- Escalation channel (optional): where an unacknowledged critical can escalate.
- Use quiet hours, with a Start and End time.
Click Save. An unverified channel can be ticked, but gets nothing until it's verified.
Turning Use this custom routing off doesn't mute the client: every active, verified channel gets every critical and operational alert again.
Campaign group overrides
On Agency, a campaign group can have its own rule. Under Campaign group overrides, click Override for this group, set it up like the client rule and save. Revert to client default removes it. An issue uses its campaign's group rule if there is one and it's on, otherwise the client rule if it's on, otherwise every active, verified channel.
Quiet hours
Quiet hours hold operational alerts and send them when quiet hours end. Critical alerts, including recovery notices, always go out. The times use the client's Timezone in Alert Settings (blank means UTC), and they can run past midnight, such as 22:00 to 07:00.
Protected groups
Tick Protected next to a campaign group under Campaign group overrides. Any budget or status change on a campaign in a protected group is then critical, and changes that would be ambient become operational.
Budget floor
Budget floor in Alert Settings is a client setting, not part of a rule. Outside protected groups, a budget increase is critical only when it's at least 50% and at least the floor. Empty means 50 in the ad account's currency. The floor doesn't affect pacing or performance bands.
Recognised people
Each client has its own Recognised people list on the client page. For 7 days from Advec's first read of the client's change history, everyone who makes a change is added automatically. The window opens once, so in an ad account added later every person is unrecognised until you add them.
After that, a status, removal, budget, bid, targeting or tracking change by someone not on the list moves up a tier (budget and tracking stop at operational). To add someone, choose Google Ads or Meta, enter their email or identifier and click Add person, or open one of their changes and click Mark as recognised.
Alert rules, quiet hours, protected groups, monthly budgets and the budget floor need Pro or Agency. Campaign group overrides need Agency. Recognised people work on every plan.
